Rehearsals for 2014-2015 Season Begin Soon!

Attention, band members: Rehearsals for the upcoming season begin on Wednesday, September 3.

This season our rehearsal location and schedule will be the same as last year:

Location: Canyon Middle School,  19600 Cull Canyon Road, Castro Valley, CA 94552

Time: Wednesday evenings, 7:30 to 9:00 p.m.

Registration for the whole year is $124. You can pay in advance at the Castro Valley Adult and Career Education website, or bring a check to the first rehearsal.

If you'd like to join the Castro Valley Community Band, or just learn what we're all about, please show up at a rehearsal! Bring your instrument. All are welcome.

Marches! Musicals! Movies!

Please join the Castro Valley Community Band on Wednesday, June 18 at 7:30 p.m. for our final concert of the 2013-2014 season, Marches, Musicals, and Movies! 

Music on the program includes Highlights from Camelot; Go West, a medley of music from Westerns (Magnificent Seven; The Good, Bad and the Ugly, and Hang 'em High), Hawaii Five-O, The Little Mermaid, Mulan, Mission Impossible, and The Sound of Music.

The concert will be held at the Castro Valley Center for the Arts, 19501 Redwood Road in Castro Valley.

Update on our Joint Concert with San Leandro High School

The Castro Valley Community Band's joint concert with San Leandro High School will take place on Wednesday, February 26, 2014, at 7:00 p.m. (This is a different time than we announced earlier.) The location is unchanged: The San Leandro High School Performing Arts Center.

Castro Valley Community Band Returns to St. Louis Bertrand in Oakland!

For the third year in a row, the Castro Valley Community Band will play a holiday concert at St. Louis Bertrand Parish, 1410 100th Avenue in Oakland, on December 18, 2013 at 7:30 p.m. All are welcome.

The people of St. Louis Bertrand have very warmly welcomed the band over the years. Indeed, this has become a favorite gig for many band members. We look forward to sharing an evening with this enthusiastic community, and we invite everyone to join us.

Wednesday, December 11, 2013, 7:30 p.m.: Holiday Concert in the Castro Valley High School Cafeteria. (Not in the Center for the Arts!) Free!

Wednesday, December 18, 2013, 7:30 p.m.: Holiday Concert at San Luis Beltrán Church in Oakland. Free!

Wednesday, February 26, 2014, 7:30 p.m.: Combined concert with the bands of San Leandro High School, in their Performing Arts Center.

Wednesday, March 5, 2014, 7:30 p.m.: Combined concert with the bands of Bishop O'Dowd High School in Oakland, at their Performing Arts Center

Wednesday, March 19, 2014, 7:30 p.m.: Spring Concert at the Castro Valley Center For the Arts on Redwood Road in Castro Valley. Free!

Wednesday, June 18, 2014, 7:30 p.m.: Summer Concert at the Castro Valley Center For the Arts on Redwood Road in Castro Valley. Free!

Saturday, May 10, 2014, 8:45 a.m.: We are the traditional warmup act for the Rowell Ranch Rodeo Parade, held on Castro Valley Boulevard. Free! 

Guido Fazio's Jazz Gig -- This Saturday in Hayward!

A little more info from Guido: "The venue is one of the newest dining/music spots and in my home town, Hayward. The members of this quintet have worked with or backed Jazz Greats such as: Stan Kenton, Buddy Rich, Mel Torme', Cal Tjader, Sarah Vaughn, Phil Woods, Frank Rosolino and Poncho Sanchez to name a few.
