Two chances to hear the band in December

You get two chances to hear the Castro Valley Community Band this month! On December 20 at 7:30 p.m. in the Castro Valley High School Cafeteria (not in the Center for the Arts this time!) we'll present our annual free holiday concert, entitled "Celebrating the Holidays in Song." Admission is free, a sing-along is on the program, and refreshments are served afterward.

One week earlier, on December 13, you can hear the band at St. Louis Bertrand Church in Oakland. Always a lively affair, that concert culminates with the traditional singing of Feliz Navidad. That concert also begins at 7:30 p.m. and is also free. We are very grateful to the congregation for making us welcome year after year.

The CV Band plays the Rose, White, and Blue Parade in San Jose

Frank Codd, who coordinates our float, poses with Kathy Maier and our ribbon for participating in the Rose, White, and Blue Parade in San Jose.

For decades, the Rose, White, and Blue Parade has wound its way through the Rose Garden neighborhood of San Jose on Independence Day, July 4. And for the last few years, the Castro Valley Community Band has been pleased to be part of this annual tradition.

Frank Codd, one of our French Horn players, volunteers many hours every year to arrange for our participation and build our float. (We're not a marching band, though we do play marches!)
